San Ghanny ( We Shall Sing) is a small community choir based in Edinburgh which formed to sing in solidarity with Palestinians. They visited the West Bank in 2012 and again in 2017 where they met people, learned about the everyday experience of Palestinians and sang in a variety of settings. They also committed, during that journey, to share their stories upon their return to Scotland.
On their return in 2017 they produced a book, “1001 Olive Trees” in order to share these stories more widely. The proceeds from the book go to support projects in Palestine.
At CoastWord we welcome San Ghanny, as they sing some of their songs in Arabic and English, alongside poetry, prose and storytelling based on their conversations and solidarity with the people they met in Palestine.
