2013

Our first festival was a magical two evenings of Promenade and Words.

Our first night was opened by the amazing Dunbar Sings and Dunbar Writers, at the North Light Arts Beach Hut at the Harbour. We then took ourselves the short walk to the Dunbar Sailing Club and were treated to the words of the wonderful writers Alice Mitchell and Pete Lancaster and the singer songwriter Alex Cornish, interspersed with readings from Appletree Writers’ collection 'In On The Tide', read by the Dunbar Lyric Group. We finished this extraordinary evening with a pub quiz at the friendly Volunteer Arms.  A really magical but friendly and easy going evening, laughter mixed with real listening and appreciation.

Our Second Night began at Lauderdale Park. Local Poet Rita Bradd entranced the audience with her moving words and performance, followed by the Dunbar Lyric Group’s unique reading of Iain Levens story inspired by Dunbar. We finished, serenaded by the beautiful music of Karen Dietz and Richard Klein. Basking in the evening Sunshine we were spoilt with words, with story and music. Our happy gang then moved on down to Dunbar Library to be entertained by the Scottish Book Trust’s New Writers, introduced by three local writers from Dunbar Writers; Jo Gibson, Colin Will and Jill Madden. We were hosted by North Light Arts and after our lovely wine and refreshments, were treated to more music by Karen and Richard and The Lamphouse’s Wesley Bradd.  Another fantastic night and much to build upon as we plan 2014’s festival.
